The founder of NPMSG, Scott Ployer is a city kid that grew up in Boston, Massachusetts. His family lived in rent-controlled, affordable housing, so he knew at an early age just how important it was for them to be living in a safe, decent, affordable, and well-managed apartment community. They were grateful.      

 In 1980, after graduating high school, Scott joined the U.S. Air Force. Upon returning home, he continued to “serve” his community in various ways, both personally and professionally.  He took a job as a program coordinator with the Boston School Department’s, Youth Employment and Training Program. This federally-funded, local educational program served at-risk, socio-economically, disadvantaged, and disabled, middle and high school students by linking them with part-time jobs. The catch?  They needed to stay in school and get good grades. He was responsible for over 350 students in 17 inner-city schools. It was one of the most successful, drop-out diversion programs in the country.         

 In 1987, Scott took on a short-term assignment with a Boston-based property management company to develop, what was then, one of the first automated work order tracking programs in the industry.  Little did he know that this temporary “gig” would soon become his newfound career. It also fit perfectly with his upbringing and core beliefs of always helping others and giving back.  

Over the next 33 years, Scott worked for some of the most recognized names in the property management industry, rising through the ranks. In September 2019, Scott decided it was time for him to branch out on his own and founded National Property Management Strategies, Group, LLC, a consulting firm that works with multifamily and nonprofit clients across the country to further their missions and advance affordable housing.
